TABS are a way of physically grouping information together within a single space. They are related to a MENU in that they point to new content, but they are different in that that the content is (usually) contextually related to the currently viewed content. Good examples of these are the tabs contained within My Account where you have many possibile options like setting up your social networking links like twitter and linkedin, editing your profile information, adjusting your desktop features, and setting various configurations depending on your Village Role.
TABS come in many different designs and three main functional types:
- Those that are completely loaded during the initial page load (a good example is the "What is a Content Type" block on the Village Accounts promotional pages) or the vertical tabs contained within the Node Edit form (Menu settings, Meta tags, etc)
- Those that cause an entire new page to be loaded when clicked (a good example are the tabs within My Account)
- Those that load a sub-section of the current page when clicked without causing a full page reload (good examples include the "Beauty, Brains, Form, Function, Trust" banner found on the Front Page and most promotional pages,
GATE
Village provides a number of automatic tabs associated with various Village functions but we also provide the ability to create custom TABS of all three types with nearly a dozen pre-defined looks ... a good sample of which can be found here.
